I Got The Satellite

from Velvet Dream 13 by Steve Ison

/

about

This was a song written & recorded in 2017 for a "Song a fortnight" project i had going with friends (& fellow songwriters) in Cornwall Colette Degiovanni & Jason Hyde..It was to encourage us all to be as dynamically creative as we could & it lasted for about 7 months..Like "Love & Joy" & "Velvet Dream" (recorded in the same time period), it's a kinda song suite, a type of writing i'm naturally drawn to as i like the creative freedom it offers..Got to thank Colette Degiovanni for telling me to repeat the "let them run" part again toward the end, when i played it to her on acoustic -it definitely made the song a lot better.."Danie" was another resident in the block of flats where i used to live in Acocks Green who grinded away at a job she detested & sadly (like so many) just seemed stuck in a life-rut she couldn't free herself from

lyrics

Everybody's looking for the sun,
locked inside of the tower like a maiden
With a million shekels in her hand
she gazes out through the eyes of a stranger
Wonders when the hero's gonna come ,
somewhere out of a smile from tommorow
Travelling thru the emptiness of space,
she lives in hope there's the dream that'll follow..

I got the satellite
and constellations go to my head,
I roll thru the dark for just a moment of light with you

You're such an open heart
I feel it but i don't understand,
caught in the wireless of my cerebral mind like glue

..and Danie's standing here
saying there's no love in her world,
wanting a sky that there is never the time to view

and the people go on and on thru stories of their lives
Yeh the people go on and on and on tonight ,
but its hard to be strong when you're caught in the barrel of a gun
that won't let them run..
but you let them run....

I got the satellite
and conversations go to my head,
I roll thru the dark for just a moment of light with you

You're such an open heart
I feel it but i don't understand,
caught in the wireless of my cerebral mind like glue
